Prismatic Vodka #38 Saturday Mar 18th 2006 "Objects in space" copyright 2005 Rik Davnall, all rights reserved Rik_the_Riff@hotmail.com - email me! What's this? A Drunken Scribblings update a day and a half late with no cover material and no excuse message? Well, not quite, but I feel I owe an apology anyway. The way my timetable is at the moment, I have almost no time on Wednesday or Thursday for drawing Prismatic Vodka; I barely even have time to do any scrappy sketching. With this in mind, I'm moving the third update of the week from Friday to Saturday, with Little Heart shifting to every other Sunday (Helen, if you read this, get in touch! Pwease?). This should allow me to keep up the quality and schedule without too much difficulty. The reason this is the first you've heard of this is that I decided it sometime on Thursday, long after Wednesday's update was complete. I tried to put a note up about it on Friday, but it wouldn't update for some reason. As to why this update is going up at two in the afternoon on Saturday instead of midnight, let's just say that I was pretty depressed yesterday. Everything felt a little futile and I wasn't happy with any of the drawing I did. I recovered courtesy of a bag of maltesers and episode 26 of Eureka 7 (actually so euphoric it's a genuine cure for depression ^_^). I did do a bunch of work between midnight and two this morning, but then I needed to sleep. I finished the page this morning, and I have to say, I'm actually very pleased with it. I usually struggle enormously with things like spaceships (Zobbo's ship being a rare exception, and even that only just), so I'm dead chuffed that the third panel came out so well. Those of you fed up of Zobbo and his angsty voiceover can relax now; we're back to Mike and the gang on Monday. Ooooo, I have to confess that part of the reason today's update is late is that volume 3 of Akira (the manga, not the film) arrived today. It's even better than the first two (which were awesome). It also finally contains the two moments all readers of the first two volumes have been waiting for, some shiny special effects, the most complicated plot contrivance ever (so complex it makes sense and can't really be called deus ex machina), and Kaneda finally getting to be kick-ass. Katsuhiro-sama, sugoi! I think that's about it for now... I'm off to Kaneen's for bishies... ^_^ 'Til next time, Rik ![]() ![]()
