Prismatic Vodka #55 Saturday Apr 29th 2006 "Surprises about mysteries" copyright 2005 Rik Davnall, all rights reserved Rik_the_Riff@hotmail.com - email me! Okay, I'm very tired as I write this. I went round to Izzy's to watch Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex and Appleseed this evening instead of working on the comic at a sensible hour, and then had to shade it starting at half eleven. You might have guessed from the art that this one was a hard one to shade; it was also time-consuming. It's taken me two hours to get from line art to this point. Still, I'm happy with the result. I'm going to use the first panel image for a Drunken Scribblings banner for the big launch, which will probably be the week after next. I am slowly getting ready for it, I promise... I highly recommend Appleseed, by the way (the new version, at least); the animation is immensely shiny. It's not badly put together plot- and writing-wise, either. It also manages to avoid Ghost in the Shell's problem of getting too deeply into the philosophy and getting bogged down. It's worth pointing out, though, that GITS: Standalone Complex is also short on the philosophy, and thus in many ways much better than the films (certainly the second one...) Anyway, I'm off to bed... Wub, Rik ![]() ![]()
