Well, you can tell I'm beginning to feel the pinch in terms of meeting my update schedule.
I'm not terribly happy with today's page; the shading's a bit lazy (though part of the problem
is that I don't know how to shade characters who have strong light sources behind them (Mike
is stood in front of the kitchen window, if that's not clear from the page), short of turning
them into silhouettes, and silhouettes can't express mood or emotion at all and are thus useless
to me. If you do know how, please get in touch and let me know.
Suzumiya episode 11 is out! And it's really good. A touch on the unconventional side, but
quite interesting. Particularly the way (shock, horror) Nagato seems to be developing a
personality. They're focusing a lot on Nagato at the moment - I can't say it's a bad thing,
the poor girl needs all the help she can get with Haruhi stealing every scene she's in and
poor Mikuru's big boobs to contend with. I found a site that's translating the novel, which
I'm reading through now. It's an interesting read, actually; less of the out-of-order funkiness
of the series, which gives us a much better impression of Kyon and the 'normals' - by which
I mean his two friends, Taniguchi and Kunikida, and the class president, Ryoko Asakura. Kyon
actually comes across as a bit of a perv in the novel, but it's not presented as anything
particularly serious or unusual. If anything, it makes him a little more believable. Poor
thing, though - he is so put-upon. Ah well, I'm sure he'll live...
That's about it for now. I bought disc 1 of Dirty Pair Flash yesterday, but I haven't had
time to watch it yet. As well as the comic, I'm working on a mod for Darwinia. If anybody
else still cares about the game to be interested, drop me a line and I'll send you the files
as I complete them; the first level should be ready soon.
