Right, I've finished drawing this chapter. It feels good to be rid of it. There are too many
bad memories associated with it. Still, I'm pleased with the way it's turned out, and, of
course, for you guys it's not over for another three weeks (just shy). Yesterday was a cathartic
day, not just because of finally reaching the point where I can get stuck into real plot.
First off, happy birthday Hayley! I know you don't read this, but now everybody knows you're
old ^_--
Secondly, I love being in a band and being a drummer. Things are going really well at the moment.
I'm even beginning to be able to play the drums (touchwoodfingerscrossedprayingtoGod). Apart
from that friggin' Foo Fighters song... (we really struggle with 'Everlong' despite the fact
that we can eat Metallica alive... >_<)
Thirdly, big heys to Lora (not the Zobbo one)! Thanks for hangin' out with me today, hun. I
needed something to blow out the reading week cobwebs...
Lastly, I get to write a rant about Xerq and Terrawatch! Or at least, about how much I enjoyed
introducing them to the Drunken Scribblings universe. For those of you who weren't reading in
June and didn't see when I put up pages of XQ1 (my first serious attempt at a webcomic, which
never got as far as the web), Xerq was the lead character of my first credible attempt at a
comic. The format was much more gag-a-day and there was much less of an in-depth storyline (and
the art was much suckier and simpler), but I loved the characters. Soon after the Drunken Scribblings
stopped being just Prismatic Vodka (don't forget, Zobbo's birthday is the end of this month!),
I knew I wanted to get Xerq and co. back in. Searching for the UFO was the perfect opportunity,
given that Xerq's job for *unspecified but very long period of time* was to operate the Terrawatch
observatory, which tracks space traffic in the solar system. And I've loved the seven pages
which feature one or more of the XQ1 characters. I'm really pleased with them, and I've even
come up with some cool stuff to put in them. Keep your eyes out for a contest starting on
Wednesday!
's all for now!
Wub, Rik
