WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I found Paintshop! And I got my scanner working! Everything is good with the
world! Okay, that seems a little over the top, but I am actually ecstatic to be able to restore my webcomic-making
process to order so quickly. If you'd asked me at lunchtime yesterday whether I thought today's page would be done
on time, I'd have given you a worried face and a verdict that there was less than a 50% chance. Inside, I'd have been
sick with misery for the prospect of failing to get a page ready for you guys (yes, I'm serious about that 'my update
schedule is a promise' crap; particularly with PV, which has only missed a bare handful of updates ever). But here
it is, and, assuming I find a gap in my busy schedule either this afternoon or tomorrow (which is quite likely,
really, since I'm not as busy as I make out ^_--) Friday's page is likewise assured. I also plan on running a Zobbo
tomorrow, since there's still no sign of progress on the forums side of the Crossover Wars (no point wasting updates
on filler, now is there?).
The good news doesn't stop there, either; my parents have generously footed almost the entirety of the expenses of the
computer, so I'm no longer begging you guys for money. I am still going to get that tip jar and run an incentive
scheme based around 'Universe' pages (I can't exactly raise my update schedule at the moment ^_--), at some point
this week, but it's no longer a case of 'please pay for the computer that makes it possible for me to do this' (it's
actually going to be more like 'please buy me a pair of spectacles which aren't on a 3-year-out-of-date prescription
and help me replace my 3-year-old phone' ^_--).
In other news, I got to do some roleplaying yesterday as well; my friend and long-time GM Steve ran a one-shot in a
system whose name I can't quite remember (think Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets The Ring), in which I wound up playing
an elderly man who made scary, vicious clockwork machines. The nastiest of said machines killed me midway through
the session (I always come to grief in Steve's one-shots; in the last one, I wound up getting shot and then jumping
out of a 15th-floor window into the middle of a riot) by punching through my face and into my brain. It was an
excellent game, and I very much hope I can get in on the campaign he's planning to run next year.
I suppose I should say some stuff about this page, though given how minimal it is that seems a bit futile; I didn't
simplify it because of time constraints, it was written this way as a quick introduction to the characters' situation
within this chapter (on the run from the cops, basically, given that their home got blown up and they were then
seen at the scene of what's been deemed a major terrorist incident). Minimal or not, though, I'm quite pleased with
it; Mike looks maliciously cute in the last panel (don't tell him that, he'll kill me); it makes me want a Mike
computer-pal plushie of some sort....
Anyway, today I have band practice and drawing, possibly followed by a Rainbowphonics gig; should be a good day ^_^
Wub, Rik
